CBI SUMMONS KARUNA'S WIFE:

The CBI on saturday served summons on Dayalu Ammal, wife of DMK Chief M Karunanidhi,
in a case related to the 2G spectrum scam.

The summon was served at her Gopalapuram residence in Chennai and it was received by Karunanidhi's secretary Shanmuganathan.

The summons come in the wake of special CBI judge O P Saini dismissing her application that she was not in a fit state to appear before the court.

A representation by her lawyer in the CBI court on Friday said 82 year old Dayalu Ammal, a prosecution witness in the case had been diagnpsed with 'cognitive and behavioral abnormalities".Two applications were filed in the CBI court in Delhi  on her behalf seeking to dispence with her personal appearance in the case.
But he court dismissed the applications, saying she was an important witness and summoned her to appear
before it on July 8.

The DMK chief said thae CBI had also accepted that his wife's condition was bad, but it was not clear why the judge had directed her personal appearance. He said Dayalu Ammal's medical certificates were submitted in the court with a request that a medical team from a central government hospital examine her and certify her condition.
